Here’s an insider’s look into what makes Michelle one of our customers’ favorite servers.
How long have you been at The Gables?
More than 12 years!
How did you come to work at The Gables?
A friend of mine was the banquet manager at the time. I was an administrative assistant, and I’d just had my second daughter. I wanted to work part time so I could spend more time with my kids. I worked a couple of Gables weddings … and the rest is history.
What’s your favorite part about working at The Gables?
I really love everyone I work with, so I look forward to going to work—how many people can say that? And it’s exciting when it’s super busy; we’re a really cohesive team. I feel like everyone here is my second family. We all look out for one another and always help each other. Everyone has a great sense of humor, too. We have a good time working together.
How is your time spent at The Gables?
For the first nearly eight years, I did events only. Now, I’m mainly in the restaurant. I love interacting with different customers, many of whom have become regulars.
Do you have a favorite customer story to share?
Hands down, working Cecily Tynan’s wedding! I’ve watched Action News since I was a kid and all of the anchors were there. It was awesome to see them all in person.
If you were stuck on a desert island and had to bring just one menu item with you, what would you choose?
Without a doubt: Duck confit fries.
How about at home? What’s your favorite thing to eat and drink?
I’m low-key: I only drink Miller Lite. At home, we love doing Taco Tuesday because it’s quick, easy to make and offers something for everyone.

My three children—Ava, 16, Olivia, 13 and Evan, 3—love coming to our new-menu tastings with me. They all enjoy the food and are developing quite diverse palates. The crab and artichoke dip is their favorite!

I really enjoy working for co-owner Ann Kolenick. She’s a great person and lots of fun!
