Rooftop to Your Table: Fresh Produce Kicks Up Takeout Cuisine

We’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for the next time our customers can take their seats in our restaurant and on our patios. In the meantime, we’re honored to grace your table with The Gables at Chadds Ford’s Southern-inspired takeout cuisine that’s next-level fresh, thanks to our sourcing partners and to our rooftop garden, many months of the year.

“Planting has begun!” says Executive Chef Darryl Butts. “We’ve already started our kale, Brussels sprouts, basil, thyme, oregano, cherry tomatoes, cilantro, parsley, fennel, and peppers. We expect a bumper crop this year, and we will keep planting as the season's progress.”

When our veggies and herbs are ready to pick this year, as in years past, you’ll find the fruits of the kitchen team’s labors in our food. The bounty from our rooftop garden definitely will be incorporated in these dishes, which are currently featured on our takeout menu:

  1. Balsamic Brussels sprouts

  2. Tomato bruschetta

  3. Jumbo lump crab cake

  4. Seared diver scallops

  5. Pappardelle Caprese

  6. Plus sauces, salads, and soups.

“Those are just some of the ways we incorporate our bounty into the current takeout specials, a la carte, family style, and Sunday takeout brunch menus,” Chef Darryl adds. “We just added build-your-own ice cream floats! When we’re able to offer dine-in service again, you’ll find our seasonal produce made the short journey from our rooftop garden, to our kitchen, to your plate — and into quite a few of our specialty cocktails, too.”

In the meantime, as we wait for time to pass, and the seasons to change, The Gables is happy to offer our current takeout menu, including to-go wine and beer. In fact, you can bring in your clean growlers to fill, too! Like all takeout, please call ahead for curbside pick-up and delivery. Lunch and dinner takeout is available Tuesday through Saturday, from noon to 8 p.m. If you’d like your order between noon and 4 p.m. on those days, please call one day in advance. Sunday brunch takeout and curbside pick-up is offered 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

By popular demand, we just launched our Popup Grocery Shop! You’ll find produce, dairy, meat, dry goods, paper/sanitary needs and our house-made salad dressings. These items are available for curbside pickup, or for delivery within 10 miles of the restaurant for just $10. Call to order and to discuss any special needs that we might be able to source.

Last, but not least, there’s 10 percent off for all medical professionals as a special thanks to these frontline heroes.

Right now, times are uncertain and stressful, friends.
